2002 Race 8 - HotRod Hobbies & Raceway
[Saugus CA]by Joe Myers - Normal SUNNY Southern California saw a threat of rain Saturday Sept. 28th when the tour rolled into HotRod Hobbies for the 8th race of the series. One of the years smaller turnouts, but we had 40 racers ready to heat things up. Jimmy Babcock, HotRod track manager ran todays event which gave me the opportunity to actually race my first series race in 2 years.
Right out of the gate, the very first heat of STOCK saw door to door competition for the full 4 minute run. Coming off the 4th turn on the final lap you could have thrown a blanket over the front 4 cars and that's how they ran their entire run. Some of the best r/c racing I've ever seen.
Joining in this weekends competiton we had out of town racers from Northern California and Las Vegas. Thanks to Troy and Kevin for making the long trips to join in the fun. I hope to see you guys at the track again real soon.
